Since it's tough to avoid Pokémon, we found ourselves involved in playing card games. The cards mirror the games, with a new series released every three years when the latest main series games are, with a dozen or more sets released for each. There are two types of sets: standard and special. The modern standard sets sell 36-pack booster boxes, but special ones do not. All sets offer elite trainer boxes with a promotional card, packs, dice, and other items.
The prices of older sets can skyrocket. Some have chase cards worth over $1,000, so the individual packs run high. Since the game and Pokémon remain popular, the older, unopened products fetch high prices. Check out the Pokémon Investing subreddit for more information.
We started this website to keep track of lucky and shiny Pokémon obtained in Pokémon GO. We were often making written checklists with each new release to keep track of which lucky or shiny Pokémon we got. I suggested we keep track using a website, so we did not have to keep making new lists. Since Niantic did not offer lucky Pokémon tracking in-game in the past, this website helped to bridge that need.
With these checklists, an Alolan Meowth counts as an original Meowth since there is no difference in Pokémon GO's lucky tracking. We update the lists occasionally, with new Pokémon showing up within a week or two of in-game release. Releases have slowed as Niantic has added many tracking features directly into the game.
In the future, we may track more specific variations, such as gender or costume. We know there are a few users who track shiny Pokémon down to gender, so this is something we want to add in the future.
We require a Google account to track your data as a user and may provide alternative forms of authentication in the future. But for now, we only offer Google. We store all data in an online database for quick retrieval.
